A word of warning- PLEASE BE AWARE OF CON ARTISTS

Please be very careful with who you interact with on any social networking site. There are loads of weird people out there with fake profiles. There was someone out there who made a fake profile with my pictures on another networking site as well as facebook. After reporting the matter to facebook the account is now shut down. I receive many strange emails and inbox messages like the ones below....Obviously con artists...

If anyone out there receives an email like the one above, please do not fill in your details. This is a classic example of phishing allowing hackers to gain access to your personal info.

Despite numerous warnings I don't quite understand how some people can be soo gullible. I heard a story about a lady in Laudium the other day. She was duped by a group of con men who told her that she must give them one hundred thousand rand cash and they will give her two hundred and fifty thousand rand in return. The woman was so excited that she actually withdrew that amount of money and handed it over to the con men after agreeing to meet them at a specific location. They waved at her goodbye after they received the money. Then only did she realize that they had taken her for a ride...How silly could the woman be? My advice to everyone out there is this, if you receive strange emails like the ones above, do not reply and do not open up any attachments either. It is common sense that no one out there will give you money for nothing. Money can ONLY be acquired through hard work and perseverance, unless you are a criminal of course. 

Indian musical night at the Image Lifestyle Wedding and Conference Venue

So I  left for the concert on Saturday evening and returned home in the early hours of Sunday morning after enjoying a really fun and entertaining evening. The food was excellent especially the delicious aloo parathas with cheese and spring onions. The dessert and cakes at the tea time table were equally delicious. There were a few guests complaining about a lack of variety in terms of vegetarian dishes and so the organizing team should take this into consideration when organizing the next event. I would also suggest serving popcorn on the table whilst guests are viewing the show. Overall, hats off to Mr. Altaaf, the owner of Image Lifestyle wedding and conference venue and his team for putting together a well organized show.It was really good to see people from all walks of life, young and old enjoying the various genres of songs belted out by local artists who are undoubtedly the cream of the crop and the best in the country as far as local talent is concerned...Music and singing though not acceptable in Islam according to many scholars, has always been my passion. I have started learning how to play the piano a few weeks ago and I must admit that it is not as easy as it looks. Its difficult and my fingers tend to ache and swell quite often.Hence I truly appreciated the way in which every member of the band played their instrument with absolute finesse and perfection. It was also a wonderful sight to see many people supporting our local artists who are not too far behind from international Bollywood stars in terms of their singing capability as well as stage presence. If we want our local artists to excel and achieve international status, it is imperative for all of us to support and encourage them.As the saying goes 'Local is lekker.'

A woman with a heart of gold, a woman of God

In today's post I want to pay tribute to my sister, Lakshmi Mohan for the good work that she is doing in New Delhi, India. It has always been her dream to educate the poor and the needy and she has been doing it for a few years now within her own home and neighbourhood. News about her good work has spread and hence this matter was taken up to a government level. So now the Delhi government with the help of the police force came up with an education program and approached her to conduct classes based on a set syllabus. She started teaching a few days ago. This is a fine example of how ordinary citizens can bring about change within their own communities and eventually within the country as a whole.I am really proud of her and I salute her for her good work. If you know of people like this in your community then please go ahead and tell us about the kind of work that they are doing. Let us pay tribute to these individuals who give themselves to their communities unselfishly. Their only goal and pleasure in life is to uplift and empower those who are less fortunate than themselves...

Our Domestic worker Yaseen's birthday..:))))

Our domestic worker Yaseen celebrated his birthday a day after my birthday last week. Whilst many families in South Africa and in the Kingdom experience endless domestic worker related issues, in our household the domestic workers are pretty much considered to be a part of the family. Hence to show our appreciation and gratitude to our domestic workers, we usually host a small party at home on their birthdays. Many people out there do not treat their domestic workers in a humane manner and yet it is the domestic workers who work day and night making their employers life easy. They sacrifice a lot by leaving behind their kids and family in order to make our lives easy. All they want in return is a little bit of respect, gratitude and appreciation and no doubt they deserve every bit of it.
