Saudi Arabia: Divorced by Loudspeaker

Saudi Man Divorces Wife Over Mall Loudspeaker

According to Emirates 24/7 news, a Saudi husband used a loudspeaker to divorce his wife at a busy shopping mall after seeing her take a note from another man bearing his phone number.

This, according to the Saudi Arabic language quotidian, Kabar.

The husband was with his wife and three children at the mall when he went his own way into a men’s clothes shop.

“When he left that shop, he saw a man giving his wife a note bearing his phone number…she accepted the paper and put it inside her bag,”

The newspaper did not mention where the mall is located.

“He then used the mall’s loudspeaker to shout divorce words against his wife although she was with her three children.”

A really shocking E-mail I received!!

As-salaam Alaikum, my question sister is regarding Anal Sex. I know clearly that anal sex is forbidden in Islam. However my husband is not a well practicing Muslim in this regard. I try to practice Islam as closely as possible and try to remove things in my life that may be sinful. My Husband is overall an understanding person and does not create any obstacle in me trying to follow Islam. However, when it comes to Sexual issues, he does not like it at all when I put restrictions on him. He likes to have full freedom in this aspect. He really wants to do anal sex and I stop him but then he gets very upset and mad at me. Due to this he is even fading away his understanding for me in other areas of life. He is frustrated, and some times even if I don't like it, he has still performed anal sex with me forcefully causing me tremendous pain and discomfort. My question is, am I going to be punishable for this? In my heart, I know its wrong and I also try to stop him, but sometimes he just does not listen, will Allah hold me responsible for this? Am i sinful?I  do wish to divorce him over this issue. Sister as embarrassing as my situation sounds please post this on your wall so that young Muslim women out there know what they may encounter in marriage. The looks and appearance of a person is deceiving and only once you live with the person does all his true colours come out.In appearance, my husband wears the thobe (kurta) seven days a week, he prays five times a day and yet when it comes to sexual aspects of our relationship he is a devil. Part of the problem sister is the instant availability of sexual pornographic material on the television, computer and of course the mobile phone. I have been separated from him for a month now and moved in with my parents. However, a week ago I went home unexpectedly to bring the remainder of my clothes. I was shocked and disgusted to find him engaged in sexual intercourse with two other men (sodomy) and a white woman. I could not believe what I witnessed in front of me and felt like throwing up..I stormed out of the house only to receive a text that if you can not satisfy me through anal intercourse I will seek pleasure elsewhere.....There were a few times when he suggested that we participate in group sexual activities with a few other Muslim couples he knew who were engaging in these type of activities as well.I brushed off the idea.....He wears  thobe during the day and yet on weekends he frequents night clubs with his friends. He watches pornographic movies and always compared me to his favourite pornstar going as far as wanting me to go in for a breast augmentation surgery as well as buttock implants.....astaghfirullah.........

To my Muslim sisters out there who are single, marriage in today's day and age is really difficult. Think twice before deciding to marry. I now regret marrying and feel that I was better off leading a single life. What is happening within our Muslim communities in South Africa is shocking but no one is talking about it and bringing these issues out in the open.......I ask all of you to please make dua for me through this difficult time and to ask Allah to guide all those who are astray and who have gone against the teachings of the Quraan and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammed (saw).......Thank you sister Sumayya for being bold enough to stand up to issues that are affecting our communities and talking about it openly. The world needs more people like you. My duas and well wishes are always with you. May Allah always be with you......Ameen

Stark Naked under the Abaya......

So who said that the abaya is not a sexy dress item...According to a news report two Kuwaiti women, 28 and 30 were arrested by police a week ago for frequenting a coffee shop dressed in an abaya only with absolutely no clothes or underwear beneath the black garment. When questioned by the police, they later mentioned that they were out at a sex party, consumed large amounts of alcohol and got drunk. When morning set in they were unable to find their clothes with the exception of their abaya and headed straight to the coffee shop to overcome the effects of the alcohol.....And I'm sure you never expected such things to be occurring within a Muslim country right.....Think again!!!!

Brushing shoulders with the Mega star himself !!!!!!

The living legend, Indian playback singer Sonu Nigam, concluded a three city tour of South Africa on a high with a capacity crowd screaming for more at the ICC in Durban. He definitely came, saw and conquered yet again!
Sonu performed here on Sunday. He had played in Johannesburg the previous night at Emperors Palace and the night before at The Good Hope Centre in Cape Town. This was his sixth trip to South Africa.
Whilst following his career path over the past fifteen years now, Nigam has undoubtedly perfected
the art of re-inventing himself. He appeared on South African stages two years ago and will most likely be visiting the country again after a two to three year period.
Whether it is wearing funky clothing, changing his hairstyle or eye colour through contact lenses; forays into acting as a Bollywood hero,or trying to break into the American English music market, Sonu always manages to stay one step ahead of any competition, and the latest shows were no exception.
Having perfected  the art of playing to capacity crowds across the globe through innovative use of sound and visual techniques rather than formal repetition of the many hit sings he has done for Bollywood films, Sonu did a range of variations on those hit sings. He enthralled the audience with his sweet God gifted melodious voice and belted out a few songs in the classical music genre proving to the world once again that he is ultimately the king of the Indian music industry.
With his unique stage personality, there is absolutely no doubt that he is probably the best singing entertainer out of India today. Besides his flawless singing ability, Sonu also happens to be one of the most humble and down to earth personality's within the music industry. Having brushed shoulders with the star himself on several occasions I was quite taken aback by his kindness, sweet, soft nature and of course the high level of respect he had displayed to those around him in terms of fans and well wishers. He has always been my idol, role model and inspiration ever since I was a teenager and meeting him was certainly a dream come true not only for me but for my family as well!!!!

NOT ALL THIEVES ARE STUPID

This gives us something to think about with all our new electronic technology,GPS. A couple of weeks ago a friend told me that someone she knew had their car broken into while they were at a football game. Their car was parked on the green which was adjacent to the football stadium and specially allotted to football fans. Things stolen from the car included a garage door remote control, some money and a GPS which had been prominently mounted on the dashboard. When the victims got home, they found that their house had been ransacked and just about everything worth anything had been stolen. The thieves had used the GPS to guide them to the house. They then used the garage remote control to open the garage door and gain entry to the house. The thieves knew the owners were at the football game, they knew what time the game was scheduled to finish and so they knew how much time they had to clean out the house. It would appear that they had brought a truck to empty the house of its contents.Something to consider if you have a GPS - don't put your home address in it.. Put a nearby address (like a store or gas station) so you can still find your way home if you need to, but no one else would know where you live if your GPS were stolen.MOBILE PHONESI never thought of this.......This lady has now changed her habit of how she lists her names on her mobile phone after her handbag was stolen. Her handbag, which contained her cell phone, credit card, wallet... Etc...was stolen.20 minutes later when she called her hubby, from a pay phone telling him what had happened, hubby says 'I received your text asking about our Pin number and I've replied a little while ago.' When they rushed down to the bank, the bank staff told them all the money was already withdrawn. The thief had actually used the stolen cell phone to text 'hubby' in the contact list and got hold of the pin number. Within 20 minutes he had withdrawn all the money from their bank account. Moral of the Do not disclose the relationship between you and the people in your contact list.Avoid using names like Home, Honey, Hubby, Sweetheart, Dad, Mom, etc....And very importantly, when sensitive info is being asked through texts, CONFIRM by calling backAlso, when you're being texted by friends or family to meet them somewhere, be sure to call back to confirm that the message came from them. If you don't reach them, be very careful about going places to meet 'family and friends' who text you..*PLEASE PASS THIS ON* I never thought about the above! As of now, I no longer have 'home' listed on my cell phone.Even if this does not pertain to you....Pass it on to your family & friends

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!!!!

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!!!!!!

Because You're My Mom
Linda Arlene Fassett
Because you are my mom you loved me before I was ever seen
You thanked God for this miracle, this little human being
So exciting, yet fragile it all must have seemed to you then
Hearing my little heart beat inside you, now life begins

Because you are my mom no pain was too great for you to bear
Now you’re a mother and I your child with joys and pains to share
And so into this world my life began each breath now on my own
One day we will look back at just how much I’ve grown

Because you are my mom you worried for me within your every bone
You finally let go of my little hand to take my first steps on my own

Because you are my mom you showed me through the years
To care about others and their feelings and the things that they hold dear

Because you are my mom you taught me right from wrong
Understanding that my faith in God will forever keep me strong
Showing me that being my own person is the only tool I’ll need
When morals and values are your foundation to succeed

Because you are my mom you loved me enough to also be my friend
You would be right there in ways that no one could see or ever comprehend
When there was no way I thought you could ever understand
There you would be, non-judging and willing to lend a hand

Because you are my mom, God’s gift to me was you
As your daughter I will always love you and promise to be true
I thank you for so many things and will try to never make you sad or blue

Because you are my mom, and one-day I will be a mother too
I pray I never forget all that you’ve been through
I am your daughter and in your image I am proud to be
By the grace of the Lord you were created, and then I came to be

My interview with a remarkable Saudi gentleman

It is a pleasure to have the opportunity to conduct sporadic interviews on Desert Moon's Diary.  This interview is with Fahad, a young Saudi gentleman who resided and studied in the UK for many years and has now made his way back to Saudi Arabia. He has kindly agreed to  answer some questions about life in the United Kingdom and life in Saudi Arabia.Desert Moon welcomes him....

1.To begin with Fahad, Welcome!  Please share a little bit about yourself such as where you are originally from in Saudi Arabia. Give us an insight into your family. How many siblings do you have?

First of all I would like to thank you for having me Desert Moon, it’s a real pleasure for me to be interviewed on your blog. My name is Fahad and I am a 25 year old from a small village in Al-Qassim. I come from a very simple and modest family. I have a 27 year old brother and two younger sisters at the age of 16 and 12.
 2. How old were you when you left Saudi Arabia for the UK? Why did you move to the UK initially?
I travelled to the UK with my family at the age of 15 due to a work assignment for my father from the Saudi Ministry of Defense. In the beginning I was against the relocation because it is hard to leave your friends and relatives behind and go to a place where you have never been and where friends do not exist. However, the UK started to grow in me and right now I honestly feel its home.
3.What was your life and lifestyle like in the United Kingdom with your parents?
I didn’t have a lifestyle in the beginning. I was focusing too much on my studies and failed to bond with my peers and make friends. I was very concerned about the future and therefore I paid too much attention to reading and studying. What made the situation worse is that I studied in King Fahad Academy in London where it was the first year for this school to teach the Saudi curriculum. We did not have enough teachers and I struggled a lot in learning because I had to depend on my own self which was very new to me as the Saudi curriculum is a spoon-feeding educational system.
4.What kind of adjustments did you face when you returned back to Saudi Arabia the first time?
Since we relocated to the UK I rarely visited Saudi because I started to lose contacts with my Saudi friends. The longest period for me away from Saudi was 4.5 years continuously. My visits to Saudi did not exceed one week (I normally arrive to Saudi on Monday and then leave on Thursday based on the Saudi Airline Schedule which means my visit to the UK does not exceed four days). Currently I am working abroad and might relocate to Russia so I am still not quite settled in Saudi.
5.What did you miss most about the UK culture and lifestyle?
I miss many things! I miss my friends, the landscapes, the weather, I miss how organized people are in their queues and how they follow the system, I miss the fish and chips and Indian restaurants near my flat, I miss driving in the left hand side of the lane, I miss my university life, my old job, my neighbors and so many things!
6.What were you happiest to return to with regards to the Saudi culture and lifestyle?
I happy being back to my family and relatives. Regarding lifestyle, all what I can say I’m searching for a lifestyle here in Saudi because I still did not adapt to the situation and it seems a bit hard to find activities due to lack of friends and terrible weather.
7.Can you describe for the blog readers what your typical routine and life is like as a man in Saudi Arabia?
Lifestyle in Saudi Arabia is mainly based around family, relatives, work and friends. For males they normally hang out in restaurants, coffee shops or camp in the desert while females normally they will either have their friends over, hang out in restaurants or malls in their free time.
8.What is your opinion about females driving in Saudi Arabia?
Females should have the freedom to drive. There is no reason for them not to!! However, I don’t think the Saudi culture is ready for females to drive as this will cause a culture shock and will cause many females to be harassed. Therefore, I suggest that this idea should be introduced with a fixed step plan. For example, the first step could be to allowing Females over the age of 40 to drive between 6 am to 4 pm so that they can drive their children to school and pick them up. The second step could be to allow females who are working or have a career to drive where they will be restricted to a careful. After these two steps, the Saudi culture will begin to accept and absorb the idea of females driving so that all females will then be allowed to drive without any restrictions just like males.
 9. You studied in the UK. Tell us a little bit more about the degree you acquired.
I have obtained my bachelor degree from the University of Nottingham where I obtained an Honor degree in Computer Engineering and Electronics. I also obtained a Master Honor degree in Communication Electronics and Computer Engineering from the University of Nottingham. I carried out many projects during my degree such as creating an optical software which was sold for Monica Health care LTD, creating a modem from scratch and then program it with a budget that doesn’t exceed 10 GBP within a 4 months period where I obtained the British Telecom Prize, I carried out a project in the Artificial Intelligence field where the project was called “Artificial Neural Network for Semiconductor Nano-measurements”. The project was then modified slightly with the help of my professor to aid the NHS in studding the effect of AIDS on blood cells to help them understand the disease and find a cure and finally I worked with the Rolls Royce in my master degree in the field of acoustics to characterize the materials used in their jet engines amongst other little projects in the field of ultrasonic and lasers. Currently, I am working for Schlumberger as a wireline field engineer As a Wireline field engineer I am trained to provide detailed records of the geological formation penetrated by the borehole using very advanced and high technical tools. The job involves a lot of pressure such working for very long hours continuously which sometimes exceeds 48 hours. In addition, it involves many risks such as heavy machinery, explosives, pressure that exceed 35K PSI and radioactive materials.
10.Since you spent a number of years earlier living in the United Kingdom, do you think this has made your parents more open about opportunities for you and your sisters?
Actually, my father travels a lot and he has lived in many places. Since I was born, I spent the first five years in my life in the USA but I vaguely have any memories, only pictures to look a. Moreover, I have lived around 10 years in the UK. I do believe travelling opens your mind, broadens your thoughts and changes you!
11.Please describe the distinctions and differences you see between the Saudi and the UK educational systems.  What are the pros and cons of each one?  How does it feel to be in the open environment of the UK education system without segregation?  What do you think about the freedoms of expression such as the ability to wear almost anything to school rather than a uniform?
I would regretfully say that the Saudi education system is a spoon feeding educational system which is mainly based on memorization. While the UK system makes you depend on yourself and develop your research methods. The Saudi educational system is a bit strict such that the system is fixed and you have to take certain modules whereas the UK system allows you to tailor your modules based on your desired career path. However, the only thing I noticed is that the Saudi education system is very strong in math such that many of the things which were introduced in university was already presented in the Saudi educational system including the advanced subjects!

I do believe that school should have a uniform for its students but allowing them to have casual Fridays.
12.Were you  accepted by classmates and neighbours in the United Kingdom as a Saudi person coming from an Islamic background?  What are the typical questions you are asked?
The UK is a great place and in my opinion it’s the best country to live in due to its diversity. There are Muslims, Christians, Jews, Hindus and many other relegions . Everyone is accepted regardless of their gender, belief and ethnicity. No struggle with racism at all.
13.Do you find that your friends are more likely other Saudi and international students or do you also have a number of British friends as well?
The majority of my friends are actually British and I do have some few arab friends mainly from Saudi.
14.Were the female members of your family fully adorned with the face veil whilst in the UK or did they simply wear a scarf or was their no difference in dress code between Saudi Arabia and the UK? Kindly elaborate....
In UK they would wear the scarf and dress presentably whereas in Saudi they have to wear the face veil due to the cultural customs.
15.Are there many in your circle of family and friends who are living in polygamy?  What are your own views on polygamy?  Do you think a woman has a choice on whether or not she needs to “accept” polygamy?
I do know certain friends who are living in polygamy. The subject is too wide to be discussed. It is accepted in Islam to live in polygamy but there are guidelines and certain aspects that have to be fulfilled. The system was not created for the man to enjoy himself but there are big reasons behind it where many books do discuss it. But not anyone should live in polygamy and I personally cannot have more than one woman in my life!
16.What do you think is the largest misconception outsiders have of Saudis?  How can this misconception be rectified?
The misconception is that we are terrorists and that we are horrible people. I am not saying we are good or bad but each society have both kinds. We are very peaceful, love to help others and I would encourage everyone to read about islam and know about our prophet and get their misconceptions rectified through seeking knowledge.
 17. Would you opt for an arranged marriage or a love marriage?
For sure a love marriage. Even though it took a while for my family to accept it but it has to be a love marriage otherwise I am happy to continue being single.
 18. Would your family allow you as a Saudi man to marry someone from an outside culture or religion?
It has been discussed with my family and most probably I will not marry a Saudi woman. However, that would probably mean I will migrate from Saudi and most probably to the UK because the culture will not be fair to my wife.
19.Where do you hope to see yourself in the next five years?
I am in the process of gaining field experience and already have plans to work for myself in my field. I started a couple of small projects and hopefully in five year I will be working for my own self.
20.Are there any additional comments you’d like to add for the blog readers?
I would like to thank you all for reading and it was an honor and real pleasure to be interviewed.
Thanks again, Fahad, for taking the time to answer these questions and also for sharing some of your pictures with all of us . I wish you all the best with your career and beyond!

If you eat shrimps---beware

Please read if you eat shrimps/prawns - YOU MAY  POISON YOURSELF ACCIDENTALLY

A woman suddenly died unexpectedly with signs of bleeding  from her ears, nose, mouth & eyes.
After a preliminary autopsy it was diagnosed that death was due to arsenic poisoning.
Where did the arsenic come from?
The police launched an in-depth and extensive investigation. A medical school professor was invited to come to solve the case.

The professor carefully looked at the contents from the stomach . In less than half an hour, the mystery was solved.
The professor said: 'The deceased did not commit suicide and neither was she murdered, she died of accidental death due to ignorance!'
Everyone was puzzled, why accidental death?
The professor said: 'The arsenic was produced in the stomach of the deceased.' The deceased used to take 'Vitamin C' everyday, which in itself is not a problem.
The problem was that she ate a large portion of shrimp/prawn during dinner. Eating shrimp/prawn is not the problem that's why nothing happened to her family even though they had the same shrimp/prawn. However at the same time the deceased also took 'vitamin C', that is where the problem was!

Researchers at the University of Chicago in the United States , found through experiments, food such as soft-shell contain much higher concentration of five potassium arsenic compounds.

Such fresh food by itself has no toxic effects on the human body.

However, in taking 'vitamin C', chemical reaction occurs and the original non-toxic elements change to toxic elements.

Arsenic poisoning has magma role and can cause paralysis to the small blood vessels. Therefore, a person who dies of arsenic poisoning will show signs of bleeding from the ears, nose, mouth & eyes. Thus as a precautionary measure,

DO NOT eat shrimp/prawn when taking 'vitamin C'.
After reading this; please do not be stingy. Forward to your friends

I posted the above article that I received through email on my facebook page a few weeks ago and everyone simply accepted the information as truth without further investigating themselves. All of the classic elements of a hoax email are wrapped up with a lovely red bow here.
  • Threat of sudden, terrible death
  • Lack of specific details about who the woman is, where this happened, and when this happened.
  • Something seemingly innocuous that will cause the terrible death.
Right off the bat I am deeply skeptical about the purported effects of arsenic, that it
has magma role and can cause paralysis to the small blood vessels.
This is absolute nonsense.

Read the full analysis below as reported by skepticdetective
Symptoms of arsenic poisoning include headaches, confusion, diarrhoea and drowsiness. And you can be exposed to a lot of arsenic for a long time before you start to notice the overt signs of the poison in your system: convulsions (hard to miss), white lines across your fingernails, horrible blisters, hair loss… it’s not pleasant.
While arsenic is the preferred tool of the evil housewife who likes to watch her husband suffer a slow and painful death, it can also kill you quickly. An acute dose of arsenic will cause massive nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, kidney failure, coma and, eventually, death.
This does not match the “paralysed blood vessels” story.
Furthermore, shrimp does not turn into arsenic when it encounters vitamin C. It just doesn’t happen. Shrimp may contain low levels of arsenic, as it is a basic element and occurs naturally in the environment, but it is not a dangerous dose and your body can deal with it. Unless you eat shrimp until you sprout those weird antennae, then you might be in trouble.
I found no research which indicates that shrimp and vitamin C can have a magical party in your tummy and turn into arsenic. Nor can I find any news relating to such a death.
Finally, and I think this is worth pointing out, if you have an allergy to shellfish, they could kill you. and if you take an extremely high dose of vitamin C it can also be very dangerous. But this is NOT the same thing. (Incidentally, there is no evidence that vitamin C taken for colds and flu has any positive effect, so you can stop wasting your money on it).
This is a hoax. Do not forward it on to your friends and family. Just press delete.

Better In than out.....LOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!!HAHAHAHHAH

Passing winds, releasing gas or in crude terms 'farting' is very much a natural human activity due to the foods that we eat. However, is it socially acceptable for someone to just release his gas loudly in a public space? I have discovered that there is a difference in opinion on this subject matter and it certainly varies from country to country and from one culture to the other. So what exactly sparked this topic?...I had a British patient that came to the window last night and whilst I was trying to explain to him how to take his medication correctly, I was kind of interrupted by this ppppppprrrrrr sound..(farting sound)...and I then start again trying to explain and again there is this ppppppprrrr sound and the funny bit is that whilst I wanted to burst out laughing, the man at the window was very much unperturbed....So I'm wondering perhaps in British culture its pretty much alright to fart aloud in public....I decided to do a google search on this subject matter and I found some hilarious articles...In a recent article, the Malawian government has passed a bill that makes farting in public a misdemeanour...The people of the country were up in arms that the government has time to pass ridiculous bills whilst there are more serious issues at hand like poverty that needs to be addressed.
Despite their love of costly clothing and cuteness, it’s a well known fact that Japanese girls simply fart for fun, regularly producing bottom burps like burly builders.A practice that sadly doesn’t decrease after marriage either, with this in-depth and presumably scientific study finding that a staggering 43% of Japanese husbands had to suffer the sound of their partner’s pumping in just the first year of marriage alone...So what are your thoughts on this one LOL?
